Shared Living Arrangement

What is shared living?

A Shared Living Arrangement (SLA) is when a person who has an intellectual and/or developmental disability lives with a community member, known as a shared living provider, in the provider’s home.

A young woman using a wheelchair shaking hands with a smiling young man. An older woman sits on chair in front of her, also smiling. A man is washing dishes.

There are many kinds of SLAs in the state.

A man in a wheelchair is surrounded a by five members of his family. He's shaking hands with the a man in the group while a woman has her arm around his shoulder. They are in front of a residence and they appear happy.
Sometimes the SLA includes family and looks like this.
A man in a wheel chair and a winter coat is conversing with another man who is sitting on a couch. They appear to be laughing.
Other times it's just two people.

They are as unique as the people who choose them.
