National Association of Councils on Developmental Disabilities

NACDD is the national association for the 56 Councils on Developmental Disabilities (DD Councils) across the United States and its territories. The DD Councils receive federal funding to support programs that promote self-determination, integration and inclusion for all people in the United States with developmental disabilities.

Partners In Policymaking

Partners In Policymaking’ Online Learning Program is a free, groundbreaking program for people with disabilities and their families interested in influencing change in public policy. It includes personal testimonials, life stories, slide shows, articles and videos that enhance the learning experience. Training materials are available in both PDF and text versions, eliminating printing and distribution costs and the challenge of fundraising to pay for them.

National Information Center for Children and Youth with Disabilities

A national organization that provides information service to help parents, educators, caregivers, and advocates to improve the lives of children and youth with disabilities.

PACER Center

A parent training and information center for families of children and youth with all disabilities from birth through 21 years old. Located in Minneapolis, it serves families across the nation, as well as those in Minnesota. Parents can find publications, workshops, and other resources to help make decisions about education, vocational training, employment, and other services for their children with disabilities.

TASH: Equity, Opportunity and Inclusion for People with Disabilities

A national membership organization consisting of people with disabilities, families, professionals and community members. TASH is dedicated to people perceived as having severe intellectual disabilities and seeks to build an inclusive society that values all people.

ADAPT

ADAPT focuses on promoting services in the community instead of warehousing people with disabilities in institutions and nursing homes. Attendant services (help with things like eating, dressing, toileting, moving from wheelchair to bed, etc.) are the cornerstone to community based services for people with severe disabilities. ADAPT is working to get 25% of the Medicaid long term care funds redirected to pay for a national, mandated attendant services program.
